- Global Warming
- Terrorism
- World Hunger
- Access to Clean Water
- Racial Discrimination
- Every individual reducing their carbon emissions by riding your bike instead of driving, recycling, go solar, etc.
- Educate the world on the every day agenda of our governments to help weed out the extreme radicals that aim for destruction and bloodshed.
- Implement a worldwide program that provides food and shelter for the needy in all major cities all over the world.
- Set up water posts every 50 square miles on every continent, so that clean water or filtration systems are accessible to everyone.
- Make stricter laws and harsher punishment for racial discrimination, so that people will be less likely to commit this crime.
I think my number one solution is the most implementable because it doesn't call for major laws to be written and passed or anything, it just wants every single person in the world to make a little change in their daily routines. If each and every person can make even one of these small changes, I believe that it will greatly decrease world wide carbon emissions and help heal our atmosphere.
Hey Summer,
ReplyDeleteYou hit some very important points here. But I feel like your solutions are very broad. Some of these are not as easy to implement as you make them seem. The only thing I don’t agree with is your 5th solution. If we implement harder punishment on individuals who racially discriminate all we are doing is shutting them up and not fixing the core of the problem. The way they think will not change, it just won’t be heard. And who are we (the government) to tell parents how to raise their kids? If adults still have this mentality they will just pass it on to their offspring’s and this racial problem will just surface sometime in the future. Also with your implementing harsher punishment on racial discrimination, isn’t this sort of a violation of individual’s freedom of speech? By ole means in not justifying being racist here, but people have the right to say whatever they want, even if it’s not nice.

Hi Summer,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post. You have some great problems and solutions. I also think that reducing carbon emission is a pretty easy solution to implement. All we really have to do is maybe carpool when we can. I think that the world is getting better at this, especially with car companies making electric cars. Hopefully they'll be more widespread soon. For my post, I chose assisting poverty-stricken countries as my easiest solution to implement. Please take a look at my blog when you can:

Good job on the post and good luck in the class!
Summer,
ReplyDeleteI never really considered global warming as one of the biggest world issues but your explanation on it truly opened my eyes. I completely agree with your statement of, "all of the other problems in the world are mundane if we destroy our atmosphere and can't survive on this planet anymore." It's true, if we destroy our planet, all other problems won't even pertain to us. I also had terrorism and hunger on my top 5 list, I feel that hunger in first world countries is a huge problem that is overlooked, feel free to check it out at http://entklb.blogspot.com/2016/01/top-5-world-problems.html
