- For me, this course has had so many highs and lows. There have been so many different experiences. Now that I look back at all of my blog posts, it reminds me of certain assignments that I forgot I even did. The highs for me were the elevator pitches. They were my strong points. I felt that all the work I had put in and researched was coming together in each of my pitches, so they were definitely my high points. My low points were the interviewing assignments. I am not very sociable, so it was kind of hard for me to approach people that I did not know and just make conversation.
- The most formative experience for me was interviewing an entrepreneur. I felt that I got the most out of these interviews because I got to actually speak with someone who had been through it all before and knew what they were talking about. I will always remember the experience I had with trying to hand out dollar bills to strangers. I thought it was very interesting that nobody wanted to take my free money that I was giving away. I am most proud of myself for getting into contact with business owners in the markets that I would be dealing with once Beauty To Go started up. That took a lot of time and effort, so I am very proud of that. The most joyous experience was interviewing people that I knew and hearing all the good things that they had to say about me. It was very humbling.
- I would not say that I am an an actual entrepreneur now, but I do think that I am much closer to it now than I was before. I feel that throughout this course, I have acquired much needed information and knowledge to get myself on the right track. I don't think that I have it all down, but I do know now that I am capable of doing anything I want. There are so many resources all around us and so many people willing to help me if need be. This course really showed me that.
- For any future students taking this course, I would recommend you to take advantage of all of the opportunities you have! Your professor, fellow class members, entrepreneurs all around, etc. They are all willing to help you and are incredible resources. Don't forget that! They will totally ensure that you do well in this course. I would just have a good relationship with your professor and get to know your class mates. Doing all of this will help you to have a good mind set for this course and do the best that you possibly can.

Summer, I appreciate the amount of time and effort you put into your final reflection post. I think that you offered great advice to future students and really did reflect on the assignments we were tasked with this semester. I agree that social interaction with strangers was a bit out of comfort zone as well but I am thankful that I did them in the end. Great job going outside of your comfort zone as well, and great job on completing the course. You can check out my final reflection post here if you want: http://buschuf.blogspot.com/2016/04/final-reflection-reflection.html
ReplyDeleteHi Summer,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post. I agree, this class had a lot of highs and lows. For me, the lows were filming my elevator pitches, I HATE filming myself. But, speaking to an entrepreneur was very helpful like you said. I was able to see that someone who had no background in entrepreneurship was able to run a successful business. I also went out of my comfort zone because I originally did not want to ask people questions about my ideas. Here is my link if you want to take a look:

Happy summer!
Summer,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what you said about interviewing strangers being a low point. Interviews were very hard for me too, but I did learn a lot from them. I also think that interviewing an actual entrepreneur was pretty cool. It was interesting to see a person who actually made a reality out of their venture, and to think that maybe I could do it too!
